As the parent of three servicemembers, I will continue to support and honor those who risk their lives to keep our nation safe and secure.

From the Revolutionary War to military conflicts in the present day, generations of young Americans have answered the call to duty. The sacrifice that the men and women of our military make define us as a nation. Their dedication and commitment, along with that of their families, ensures our freedom. We should never take them for granted. That’s why I have consistently supported giving our military a pay raise.

Just as we support our service members, we must also support our veterans to ensure they receive the benefits they earned defending our country. That is why I have worked to advance legislation that strengthens employment opportunities for veterans, improves access to health care in rural communities, and enhances the benefits and services they have earned.

I introduced the bipartisan Veterans Fellowship Act to help veterans transition into the civilian workforce through paid fellowship opportunities that can lead to lasting careers. I also supported the Veterans Patient Advocacy Act, which expands access to VA patient advocates for veterans living in rural areas so they can more easily navigate the health care system and benefits process. In addition, I joined as an original co-sponsor of the Take Care of America's Veterans Act, a broad package of legislation designed to improve veterans' health care, strengthen the VA workforce, and expand the benefits available to those who have served.
