Throughout my time in Congress I have prioritized investments in infrastructure, public safety, and national security through both legislation and federal appropriations. I have helped direct federal resources to communities across Michigan's Second Congressional District for critical improvements to drinking water systems, wastewater infrastructure, and efforts to remediate PFAS contamination. In response to the catastrophic failures of the Edenville and Sanford dams, I sponsored bipartisan legislation designed to strengthen dam oversight, encourage infrastructure modernization, and improve coordination between state and federal agencies.

When I was first elected, one of the most important infrastructure projects I kept hearing about was the need for a new lock at the Soo Locks in Sault Ste. Marie. Critical supply chains that support billions of dollars in economic activity and millions of jobs in the agricultural, automotive, manufacturing, and mining sectors rely on the Locks. Ensuring the Soo Locks remain safe, reliable, and efficient is vital to the economy and national security of the United States. As a member of the House Appropriations Committee, I was able to break through over 30 years of delays, help Congress officially commit to funding the new Soo Locks project and the new lock is being built today.

I have also pursued measures to safeguard the nation's transportation network by limiting the involvement of companies connected to our foreign adversaries in U.S. rail systems. Additionally, I supported funding to enhance Michigan's transportation and defense capabilities through investments in facilities such as Gerald R. Ford International Airport and Selfridge Air National Guard Base.

I have helped make historic progress for our state and I will continue to prioritize our infrastructure needs.
